Harsh winter

It’s early December, which means Taiwan is frozen over. All the Taiwanese people have donned their thick winter jackets to protect themselves from the cold. There is already ice on the ground and forecasts call for more snow.

No, actually, I’m just kidding. One of my absolutely favorite things about Taiwan is the weather. When it isn’t raining or incredibly hot, the weather is incredibly wonderful. It’s 81 degrees Fahrenheit today. I just had a nice bike ride to the grocery store and back wearing sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt and managed to work up a sweat. I love living in a semi-tropical zone!

The forecast for this week shows high 70s to low 80s, so things are looking great! I’m looking forward to a long Taiwanese winter like this!

It sounds nice, I was just wondering how the weather is there. I’m spanish and I’m getting tired of cold winters, I’d love to go to live in a semi-tropical zone, I envy you. I’ll go to Taiwan in January, and I’ll experience how it feels to be there in winter, let’s see!

It really is wonderful. I come from Midwest America, where we really do have harsh winters and lots of snow. I don’t miss it one bit. In January/February, a light jacket will suffice. Otherwise, I often go out in shorts and a t-shirt. It did get noticeably cooler this week; however, it’s still quite pleasant out. I’ve met quite a few Spanish people here and they all feel the same way – jeans, t-shirt, and a light jacket are more than enough.
