I have a new favorite snack food: 大腸包å°è…¸ (Da chang bau shiao chang), what is known as “Big sausage wrapped around a small sausage.” Yeah. How could you go wrong with 2 sausages? Here’s a picture:
You may have noticed that the “big Sausage” is white. This is because the big sausage is made from rice. Yep. A big rice sausage. Like a bun. The little sausage is pork. Both are grilled. The rice sausage is then cut open and a generous portions of ginger, garlic, and spicy sauce are put in before the little sausage is embedded inside. It’s piping hot, spicy, and makes your breath horrible, but it’s oh-so-delicious.
These are commonly sold by small food vendors on the side of the street. You can also find them at the nightmarket and occasionally you find them (very overpriced, of course) at baseball games. If you have the chance, I definitely recommend trying them.
